Factory radio reception issues

I didn't realize it because I usually have my iPod plugged in but my girlfriend pointed it out to me. She took my truck to work a few times this week and noticed it. No station seems to come in clear anywhere.... anyone have this issue?

 

The antenna plug in the back of the radio is probably loose.

I have to say, when I got my Tacoma I thought the reception was pretty lousy. I replaced my head unit with a new pioneer and was surprised the reception wasn't much better. That would make me think that the antenna might not be that great. Anyway, I listen to XM most of the time.

 

My factory radio sucked also. ave yourself this and other issues and get an aftermarket H/U with ipod or xm.

 

The factory radio has the sensitivity of a brick.

 

Mine worked fine for close to medium distances, crap for distant stations.
I have a Pioneer, it's pretty good for all.

 

Also, you can check to see if the aerial has started to loosen at the mount
on the fender...mine has gotten loose a couple times.
I have a habit now of making sure it is tight.

had the HU replaced twice, once because of defect, again because of this. No improvement. Search on here, someone added a booster IIRC which is what I am gonna try next.

 

I had a lot of issues with my stock radio until i took it in. The dealership said that there were a lot of "radio issues due to a bad batch" (whatever the hell that means). I took it in and they had a new one installed two days after.

Surprisingly easy process.

 

I doubt anything is loose, the reception sucked on my factory headunit also. As a matter of fact my aftermarket radio isn't that much better.
