How far can you go on "E"?

i actually tried to find this out once...I went 81 miles when i parked it in my driveway that was on a slope. I couldnt turn my truck bck on. So i put my truck in neutral and rolled down the driveway, turned the truck on and went to the gas station.

 

There is a filter before the pump. It won't remove the smaller particles that the main fuel filter will. Pump cooling is the biggest issue, but in older trucks with lots of trash in the tank, the prefilter can get clogged.
Replace the sending unit yourself. Just make sure the tank is empty.

When your towing a boat or RV down TO hurricane country from up north, you'd have to stop for gas every 90 minutes to keep it above 1/2 a tank. Lets say it takes 15 minutes to exiting the highway, buy gas, and get back on the highway. An extra 20 gas stops from MA to FL and back adds up to five hours I could be recreating instead of pumping gas. I'll fill it till the gas is visible in the filler neck and drain till the light is about to come on (or has just come on) for twenty tanks in a row when I do this trip.

 

Us less educated folk prefer the more understandable version of this formula:
Miles driven / gallons used = MPG

 

Well I got my 11 yr old daughter to check my math and she said it was all fubar. I got the formula right just missed the calculations.

I say just use 05Moose's formula!
