What a spoiled brat. I'd give advice, but it makes me sick to my stomach when I hear of kids getting spoiled like this.

I agree with what you are saying, just not the way you said it. I think it's important to learn how to earn money, save for what you want, and pay for it yourself. Getting a brand new truck, rims, and tires at sixteen is a little much for me. My first car was a hunk o shit. But I worked for it, payed for it, and worked on it myself. I just think it sets the wrong example and could lead to financial issues later in life. If everything is handed to you , then you expect that. But hey, we all do what we will. We will never agree on how every situation must be handled. I just think kids today get it way too easy. They dont know how to earn or save. Then again, the OP is in the OC, and those kids get everything!

Well said! In the OC this is probably a modest 1st car, what no BMW or Mercedes?

When I was 18, my mom bought me a brand new Subaru WRX. A lot of people thought I was spoiled. Then when I got a scholarship to Santa Clara, my dad bought me a brand new Tacoma. Everyone thought I was spoiled. I studied hard, graduated cum laude, and was one of the only people in my group of friends to get a job. No one thinks im spoiled now, haha.

No need for you to come in and shit in somebody's thread like that... He's asking a question about the truck for his son, nothing else.
    Good post

    Seriously! :D

I do :D I know you worked hard. Got good grades, and graduated college. But still, TWO BRAND NEW CARS without having to pay for them? That is a little spoiled.

I bought this truck myself and I consider myself spoiled because my parents pay the insurance on it. It's all relative I guess.

Anyway, to answer your question, The biggest tire you can fit on these tacomas with out a lift is a 265/70/17 or whatever the equivalent 18" tire would be. That is approximately 32" in diameter. Here is a picture of my truck to show you what it looks like.

To fit the 285/70/17 you would need to lift about 3".

I dont think its wrong at if the kid is responsible, does great in school has a job and works his ass off. Some people are lucky enough for this to happen to them! I think its just jelousy to be honest. Be happy for the kid and be a prick about it

Take a chill pill man. I got a new truck when I turned 16, but I spend months trying to find a good deal. I paid for half, all gas, and every mod on it. I know what money means. I have a job and have carried a 4.0 GPA through high school. You don't know what kinda deal they had in the beginning, to make you accusations.

Criticizing the choice of the OP to "spoil" his son is of no ones business but his. It is his choice what he does with his money. It is good that he rewards his son for being a decent human being and not some little gangbanger with his pants falling off his ass in this day and age. Later in his sons life if his son interpreted everything being given to him as ," I don't have to do shit because daddy will take care of me", then that is his decision and he will pay the consequences. I'm sure dad would feel partly responsible himself. BUT if he interprets it as," if I try and do good I'm rewarded and appreciative and I will do so with my kids", then we have another decent human in this world. Think about this... If you had decent $ and could afford to buy your kid something nice, why should your child be ridiculed for it. It's not his fault his parents are succesful and not some ghetto trash who feels like the world owes them everything.

He came in to ask questions about a truck he purchased for his son. You're not his son(s) nor is he your dad. Why shitty up his thread? Lame
