Yeah dude. I've played with a Frontier before, My Taco ate it for breakfast.

I personally hate the looks of the frontier, the interior and exterior looks like anus IMO. But, the front end (when lifted) can look pretty nice.

BS or not, you will never catch me in a Nissan truck. Tacoma rocks's the competition without a doubt.

So you listen to the "complaints" of others and rely on the opinions of anonymous strangers online? How about test driving them both and deciding for yourself?

Sometimes the solution to the problem really is the simplest.

I think research ahead of time is important. I studied the Nissan Titan forums for months before ruling it out due to the folks there all all the complaints and problems they are having with it.

Just a couple months back or so I was comparing the same two. Being a huge Nissan fan from owning a Maxima, I really wanted to like the Frontier. But the Tacoma test drive ruined it for me. When you do test drive both, note the roominess and ride of the two. Betting I know which you'll like better.

Research is a very important aspect in buying a vehicle. I'd never buy any vehicle without researching first.

I surely hope Tacomagui posted this very same thread on the Nissan Forums also. Cruising the threads and asking questions is the only way to gain the informatmion you want about *personal feedback*, mechanical concerns, reliability, Cost comparisons, specs, packages, etc.

By researching - You should look at and drive both vehicles and see for yourself if any or all of the complaints are legit based on what you see. Obviously, making your own judgement based on your needs.

you can go to the dealership with (in most cases) better knowledge about the vehicle than the salesman does! That gives you the power to bargain smartly. Salesman can't pull the wool over the eyes of someone who's done their homework.

And then your power steering makes groaning noises before you have 60 miles on the car, to which they lie and claim nobody else has ever reported this problem yet you have service invoices from other people with the same issue and you know Nissan is trying to fuck you.
I agree with this after having an 04 Nissan Titan and all the problems that nissan was trying to avoid and just let you "fall out of warranty". Get the taco, the fonty is a good truck don't get me wrong. But in the end, with the taco you get the truck that everyone wish they would have gotten.

It sucks that Nissan is like that. I passed up a hell of a deal on an '07 Double Cab to buy My SE-R because I had believed Nissan was good quality from my experiances with my Parents '89 Maxima when I was growing up.

I forgot to point out in my previous post, all that bullshit I just talked about on my SE-R happened before I had 500 miles on it. I owned it for roughly 6 weeks and sold it with 800 miles. A great majority of those miles where from going back and forth to the dealer. The dealer also put 80 MILES ON MY CAR when they finally switched the power steering.

Next dealer that tries to mess with me is gonna get highlandered.

No doubt research is a key thing when buying a car, but how many people on a Tacoma Forum will say the Nissan is better? One so far....maybe it was tongue in cheek. Cruise on over to the Frontier forums, and you will hear 1 million reason why a Frontier is better; same on a Ford Ranger forum. Nobody here will know what vehicle is better for someone else, so as myself and Wilson stated, the OP just needs to do drive all applicable models and decide for themselves, and if it's a tossup go with price or resale value, or whatever helps you sleep at night. How do I or others know what is comfortable for someone else? I didn't even consider another vehicle when I bought my Tacoma, and luckily for me it all worked out.

FYI, you can't get a Nissan 4WD with a 4 cyl, in case that matters to you. It mattered to me. Although the Tacoma is far from perfect, it is the class of the small, err, modest size trucks today..

As usual, you've missed my point completely. He says "I've heard some complaints that the Tacoma isn't as comfortable a ride." and THAT Is what I'm commenting on. As though someone wouldn't do research...DUH. The ONLY way to determine whether or not a particular vehicle has a "comfortable ride" is to go and drive it for yourself since it's a purely subjective opinion. NOWHERE in his post did he ask about "mechanical concerns, reliability, Cost comparisons, specs, packages, etc". The OP did not specify any other reason as to why he is asking our opinion so everything you've said in regard to my comment is irrelevant.

Actually I was joking, because what type of answers are you gonna expect on a tacoma site? I just told him what he wanted to hear LOL.

Seriously get the FKN tacoma. Best truck on the road (except for the frontier j/k).

I bought the Tacoma. So what more of a endorsement do you need?

Bolt on mods are wide open on the taco. So, if 10 or so HP got you down, just bolt on some mods

as far as Consumer reports reliability is concerned Taco is tops.

Now no doubt the Taco could use a few tweeks H&T but as far as a solid first base run is concerned it dont get no stronger than the tacoma.

I ran with a nissan today. the Jeepsters were saying "I cant believe the nissan (X terra) didnt leave something behind on that trail. My stock Taco hung with the Built CJ's for the most part except for some really big rock walks they were doing but they were lifted and disconnected.

Let me say that I have had 3 tacos, 2000 off road, 2003 off road and now a 2007 ac sport 4x4 v6. Before my sport I owned a '03 350z, '04 titan, and a 2006 frontier kc nismo V6 4x4. It had a great ride (car like), powerful motor, and great gas mileage (I got 23.6 on a 1700 mile trip). I loved my fronty, it had alot of great little extras that toyota does not offer such as, LOCKING GLOVE BOX, BED LIGHT, FOUR WHEEL DISC BRAKES, LIMITED SLIP WITH A LOCKER (instead of toyotas either or), AND A REAL TRIP COMPUTER. Now the bad news, Nissan will not stand behind what they sell! My steering ratio broke at 11000 miles (long story) and nissan refused to fix it. The parts manager actually told me to @#%^ myself, still dont know why he was involved with a service issue. They told me it worked well enough, could not duplicat problem. So I drove it across town and traded for my taco. Dont get me wrong I like my taco but the fronty did everything equally as well, and it was alot cheaper! New '06 frontier Nismo v6 kc $22200, '07 taco sport $26200. Toyota is much more reliable! After 3 tacos, i have only had 1 shop visit (for a squeak in the dash that they fixed the first time). Good luck with your choice. My two cents.
