I just recently sat in a Frontier, did not drive it, could not find a salesman, huh ? anyway I thought it was o.k. I felt the dash layout was nice, there are certainly differences, but I found nothing that would turn me away, I feel it looks good also. I was looking at an SE model, the one thing I did not like was the interior color, the two tone brown was really a poor choice, the exterior was white which I did like. I did like the construction of the bed and the rail system, all in all pretty close to ours, which I think is the plan. Outside of a major engine or transmission failure I feel that this truck would perform as well as ours, you just might have to find what works best, as we have many members from the domestics, they had to "adapt" the the Toyota way, we would have to adapt to the Nissan way. Let me repeat, I DID NOT DRIVE IT YET, so maintain your composure when you want to cut me into tiny pieces.

I see here that you mentioned the 4cyl 4x4. This is now being offered in Canada for the 09. Do you have one and what are your impressions?

Sorry don't mean to hi-jack this post, if I should start a new one, I will, or moderator can move me.

Thanks

My two very biased cents on this is that I have never personally seen a Frontier that made me envious, nor did it make me take a second look. I'll never leave any of my vehicles stock so aftermarket mods are big in my book and the Tacoma has a ton of options. To me there is no better looking vehicle on or off the road than a lifted Taco. You just have to figure out what matters most to you and if you decide to go the Taco route, then this site will help you with the mod bug.

im reading alot of nissan bashing here. i couldn't help but chime in...

my frontier is an '02 and has 95K miles on it. i have had zero problems, and have only spent money on maintenance and normal wear and tear parts. i use my truck as it was intended, and she has never let me down, or left me stranded in the desert.
i am hard on my truck, and i abuse it regularly. the motor is bulletproof and everything still works.
don't bash nissan engineering.

thanks. almost forgot to add- look underneath your taco's. you will see numerous components hanging down below the bottom of the frame rails. i.e., the gas tank, and parts of the exhaust system- even the trd exhaust. and who's bright idea was it to put the drain plug for the rear diff on the BOTTOM of the pumpkin?
toyota's offroad package is a joke. sorry.

With all due respect, Look at the rear/ underside of YOUR truck. It gives me a headache. ALso, the Toyota rear axel is leaps and bounds stronger than any nissan axel. Look at the problems Nissan has had with the Titan. Toyotas rear is a "third member", and the drain plug is very well protected against trail damage. BUT, your right, there is a BIG difference between the underside of your truck, vs. the underside of mine:
