While driving at highway speeds with the AC on the fan stopped blowing at any speed except high. After about an hour of turning the fan on and off to keep from freezing or burning, the other speeds worked again. Anybody see this? 05 TRD 2wd access cab, 85k, had it for 800 miles, if that matters. Outside temps were 80 - 103f. I checked the fuses. One other possible clue: no lights behind fan speed switch at night.

The light being out is probably just the bulb. The low/medium speed problem is a sign of a bad blower motor resistor. Pretty cheap and easy to replace. BTW, it will be intermittent for awhile before it craps out for good.

This thread will help you out with pics:

I'll pick one up and swap it out. Thanks again!

Def the resistor as stated above. But you might also consider replacing the blower motor too. Most of the time the reason the resistor goes out is because the blower motor is drawing to much amperage and of course it takes out the weak link, the resistor. I've read multiple threads on here about resistors going out multiple times until the blower and resistor are both replaced. Just something to think about.

And...I just noticed that you have an '05. Did you install a filter in yours since the 05s don't come with one? If not, definitely clean out the blower. Might want to check out the filter mod in my sig.

Yeah, I checked, no filter! Will check your filter mod, thanks.

My blower motor actually started to squeek/squeel like a pig a while ago. it still works on high low and all the speeds, but b4 when i had installed the stereo, i actually messed up and didn't connect the plug back in the speed switch and i was only blowing on first 2 bars. then i fixed it by connecting once again. i think i'm gonna tryh to get to the blower motor and put some grease or wd40 on it to fix it.
