Thanks for all of the comments. Looks like in the end we don't have to worry, Mattracks 88 series and also the M3 UR HD series will fit with only the removal of rear mud flaps on Tacomas.

Mattracks do not require 4x4 to work. Mattracks on non-driven wheels just roll along fine on reasonable ground. We have one 2WD compact tractor with 3500 series tracks on all four hubs, and they do great.

The tracks are not very heavy, about 350 lbs per unit.

Also your vehicle is much more powerful with them on, due to their gearing (About a 33% increase in torque and power).

    Best regards

Post pics when you are done! :D

Moving 1,200lbs+ of unsprung weight even with gearing will be tough on your truck.

i would be really worried about our steering system with these on. i wouldnt think it would be up to turning those on anything other than wet dirt or snow. another question so what do you do if you get stuck in snow? i know its really hard to get out a snowmobile i cant imagine how hard it would be to get out a truck. that being said do they get stuck?

But doesn't that go against the whole point of having tracks in the first place?

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
It does, but this whole story about 2wd pickup on the farm is starting to look strange. First it was 2wd because its cheapest plus there is no place for that truck to go to have his wheels wet.
    Now there need for Mattracks:confused:
How do you go from basic 2wd to expensive Mattracks :notsure:
Good tires and 4wd would be much more cost effective and better for soil then trying to roll tracks on soft soil.

EDIT: Just a sugestion but I bet there is p[lenty of people on this forum that can turn that truck into mud floating machine for half the money spent on mattracks

umm thats pretty fucking heavy! my 18's with 285 tires are less than 100lbs...

700 pounds up front on a 2wd that has to be pushed...? I dont think it would work. especially if you have an open dif in the rear... one tire fire to push 4 trax..bahahahaha
