Why did you choose Plastic-Dip versus a regular body paint like a flat black paint?

I'm kind of curious to but I just went with what T-Rev said and it came out just fine. I'm sure you could do this mod with regular spray paint.;)

I will be doing this today if I can find the spray can somewhere today. Think it will look nice on my grey truck with yellow fogs. Will post pics when completed.

Well I just finished peeling the tape off and letting it dry. Hard to notice it is there which I figured would be the case. I think the yellow popped too much on my truck though so maybe this will blend it in a little bit better. Won't know till tonight when I put the fogs back in. Either way, I know the black sleeve is there and I'm happy with it.

I'll post pics when when GF is home with the digi camera.

This plasti-dip paint is pretty cool though. Anyone know how well it holds up? Thinking about painting the middle section of my lower bumper with it.

Yeah at least you know its there.;) But yeah, I waited over night to let it dry just for some extra dry time. You will probably still get a few scratches in it when you put the fogs back in cause its almost impossible to get them back in without hitting the sides a few times.

I was also thinking of using it to paint my valance but havent decided yet. I think the texture and color would fit just perfect.

I chose Plasti-Dip because it can be removed if necessary and I had a bunch left over from undercoating my billet grill with it.

    what is the purpose though?
to get the paint to adhere better?

    clean, plasti dip, then spray?

is that the only thing you need it for? is it just instead of sanding and primer?

Well, you clean the surface so it can adhere to the bumper. I used it cause it's an undercoating that will stick to nearly any clean surface without prep, like sanding etc. I didn't want to sand my front bumper and I don't think you could sand a perfect edge for it either. It has a rubber like texture when it's dry, prevents chipping, and it's durable to climate exposure. It also gives me the finish I want, a near flat finish with a little sheen to it. There is no paint involved, it is just the Plasti-Dip undercoating itself.

Obviously can't tell its there with the fog lights on. I need to do the BHLM still. Wonder if these paint would be good for that as well. At least it match the sleeve.

I just did this mod yesterday and aside from taping off the housing, it was the cat's ass. The biggest bitch about the whole thing was actually finding the Plasti-dip. I looked in at least 6 different stores all over town. For those of you who plan on doing this ,it's in the paint department in Home Depot (spray paint section).

Before I looked there, since I couldn't find it, I was going to use 3M rubberized undercoating spray. NOT the same thing. Plasti-dip is a synthetic rubber spray, rubberized undercoating has asphalt and other crap in it. Spend the extra time and find the Plasti-dip!
