POLL: Lamin-x

Alright, so I am picking up my Lamin-x yellow covers for my fogs and I saw the deals on the website and thought about getting headlight covers as well. Has anyone ever put the gunsmoke or tint covers on their headlights? And what do you think about it?

Everyone is open to their opinion.

I personally love the look of the yellow fog lenses.

And I know tons of guys on here have done it.

 

I just painted my foglights with stained glass paint. Check it out in my build thread. Page 3. Link in my sig. At 8 bucks a can its the cheaper way to go.

 

But I wouldn't cover my headlights with anything. That would reduce the light output.

I used to have lamin x for my headlights and fogs and I wouldn't buy them again. First off, they were a PITA to put on and the ones I got (the "tint" color, i believe) ended up looking more purple than tinted once installed.

 

I like that. Cheaper and probably easier. I have heard some shitty stories about the Lamin-x. Will be doing this, this week. Will post pictures.

 

good luck man its easy. spray them both at the same time so that they come out even.

 

Thats the only thing I am worried about. If they dont come out right, is there some kind of remover to get the paint off so I can try again?

 

When I first did mine I didn't like how dark they were. I was at work so I just used a little bit of unleaded and a rag to get the paint off. I know I know stupid stupid but oh well! Didn't ruin the lens at all and was easy.

If you don't like how dark it comes out and the paint is still wet just use a sponge and run it under the faucet. Use the yellow side of the sponge. The green side will scuff the lens.

 

just lay them side by side and use sweeping motions across both lights to paint them. That way you get the same amount of paint on each light.

 

Alright, sweet. How many coats did you do?

I did them on mine. The curves are pretty advanced on the headlights, but the template does fit. Note that the lamin-x tails are way off on the 05+ tacos, last I ordered anyhow. You'll end up needing a heat gun to get those on right.

I like them because I get a little protection, and the gunsmoke really matches my mag grey truck. I will however let you know it does kick the light output down slightly, but let's face it, you wanted to slap in some HIDs anyhow...

 

Bought both took of the light covers after like a week were cool but even with my hids did not put out enough light!

 

If I wanted yellow fogs I would rather buy 3000k HIDs

 

Fogs, yes. But go spray. Headlights, no. Are you trying to increase your chances of not being able to see something at night?

 

I've used the Lamin-X yellow fog light covers on my last 3 vehicles. I prefer the yellow light in foggy situations. The covers also add protection to the cheaper plastic OEM lenses.
