Sorry to hear that bro. At least nobody was hurt and the damage wasn't serious enough to hurt the integrity of your truck.

I'm wondering about the diminshed value as well.
To the OP, are they replacing or repairing the bedside? I hope they give you a new one.

Absolutely. Your truck won't sell for as much as a truck that hasn't been wrecked and repaired. They owe you the difference. It looks silver in your pics, that's a hard color to match and time/fading can make it worse. Just ask the adjuster would he pay top dollar for a vehicle that he knew had been wrecked/repaired/repainted? Bet he'll say no because it's not worth as much as an unwrecked truck. Or he might just lie to you.

I have to wait for the repair process to be finished - then file with State Farm (the other parties insurance company) for my diminished value.

As for the repairs - the body shop so far has managed to pull the bed skin straight and use "body glaze" to take care of the minor ripple that was left at the buckles. They repainted the skin and tailgate afterwards and it does look really good. You can run your hand over that part of the bed and you can't feel anything that would make you think it had been damaged.

I'm hoping for around $1k in diminished value - mainly due to the way an undamaged Tacoma holds it value. Now that this one has been in an accident - it's value takes that hit. Now, its hard to complain because I got the truck for $14k... almost $2k under KBB :D, that said - I still want my money!

Yea I got my first dent a couple weeks ago, I have had her for almost 2 years....but it still hurts. Especially when its because a horse rubbed its fat ass on the fender. The horse then continued to try and eat my agri-cover! Bastardo!

Shouldn't matter what you paid for it, only what it's worth. What if you bought it from your great aunt who really loves you and sold you her truck for $10. Is it worth $10 or $16k? What you paid is none of their business.
