I get when he closes the fill door he can tighten the rope and no one can open it unless they loosen the rope.

    Lol.
It took me a little while to figure out wtf is going on.
He tied the rope from the gas door to the shackle in the bed of the truck. Ie to keep people from opening the gas door. As long as they don't realise the rope holding it closed in the bed.

    Very ghetto. I like

Lol...ok. When gas prices go up again I'll bet there will be a slew of folks here with holes drilled in their plastic gas tanks

It works, don't knock it. When gas prices get high, trucks are a target because they typically hold more gas than a car and provide more coverage for hiding.

Wow dude, you just gave me a really good idea. How many here would like to buy a locking version of this. I think i may be able to come up with a solenoid that would activate when the doors were locked, so would your gas door. This might be pretty straight forward. I will keep you all updated.

Only be interested if the solenoid has a manual override for when it finally dies (or the battery's shot) and I need to add gas.

OP - had any thoughts of upgrading to a steel cable with a carabiner on the bed shackle? :D
