Was someone bashing? I think people are just using a little humor about the way he went about it, but maybe I misread something. It's great that he did it the way he wanted without caring what it looks like. It's his truck, and he can do what he wants. Props for being innovative to the OP. :)

He needs that trim stuff. Not sure what its called but it would just push on over the ruff edge.

You should cut a hole in the outer door skin for quick access. Wouldn't have to bother to open the door then.

Actually I almost wish I did'nt care about my truck as much and could cut shit like that. I'm too anal about it. Would be very freeing in a way to not give a sh*t! Anyway to the OP get some door edge guard for the edges. Would clean it up and not so sharp.

what would it take for a fire extinguisher to 'splode from heat?

say for example a 100 degree day, hotter n the dickens, truck sitting in the sun with the windows up, could it get hot enough in the cab to heat up the extinguisher and make it 'splode? that would be my only concern.

i once had a can of motorcycle chain lube explode due to heat, and that is some sticky shizz to clean up... ever since then i am paranoid about things blowing up from overheating...

It's ugly. Sand it down a bit to round the edges and I would probably install a quick fist, or something similar, in the slot so the Velcro doesn't just hang there. You could hide some sort of clamp or mount or something in that slot so the Velcro isn't just flapping around.

i would re-think the velcro and twine tie-down. and sand the edges..

if you dont mind, i am going to post this picture up in another one of my car forums..claim i did it to my truck..those guys are VERY uptight..

Hmmm... I think there are 10 other places you could have mounted this before you cut that nasty hole in the door panel. Oh well...

I wonder if you can put that rubber door edge trim they sell in auto stores. This way the edge of cuts will look more "professional" otherwise, hey it works :D

Does the fire extinguisher rattle in the door or at least bang around or is it snug ?
