My Tacoma is Great!

I see many complaining about there trucks, I am here to say I have had nothing but good luck so far with my 09 DC V6 4X4. I've had the truck about 14 months, I've put 16,500 on it so far, I've driven from NM to PA and back with no problems, I also averaged 22 miles per gallon and besides a faulty radio this truck has been flawless!

 

How do you get 22 mpg... keeping it at 55?

Yes the Tacos are fantastic trucks... that is normal... when there are issues, than that is strange and why we come here... for the strange!

Is your truck an Off Road TRD? I see it is a 4WD V-6 Automatic... but base/SR5, Sport or Off Road?

 

I kept it at posted speed limits lots of 65's and 75's, though I did notice when I got into the 75's, my MPG did go down. The lowest MPG I got on a tank was 19.8 and the highest was 24.6.

It's the base model. I've tinted the windows since this picture and added weather tech mats.

 

I usually cruise on the highway at 70MPH. i dont know if its just my truck, but i noticed the engine runs pretty high at this speed (2000~ RPM). is there any way to help lower that?

My 04 Sienna is a 5 speed also, and it runs a lower than 2000~ rpm when on the freeway. Acording to the overhead MPG (not the avg.) thingy im getting between 28-34MPG.

 

i bought my truck used..so it was unknown to me. besides the random groan/buzz/screech from the AC compressor, and the "humm" from the brake system priming at take off, the easy to scratch dash material, and wierd "too smart for itself" transmission..i have had zero issues.

i have driven my truck all over the place. to AZ, to texas..to los angelos to find a great chicken taco, and chinese food...no issues. i load tested my stock battery, and i suspect it to die next time i hit some extreme temperatures..

my truck is cool. i flat out average 20 mpg. best was 22. your 24 is insanely awesome.

 

As you can see from my post sig., I use the Fuelly site to track and share my average MPG. Since most of my driving is around town, the mileage stays closer to 16... (sometimes 15-16). When it is more highway, it goes to 17... and if all highway, 18-19. This is pretty much what I got in my 2005 Taco, too.

 

9 days in and I'm lovin' my new Tacoma.

So much so, I've decided to wash & wax the truck today. (taking a cool off break now...it's hot today in the Florida panhandle)

My only non issue complaint is the fact that the accelerator pedal was circumcised prior to me buying the truck new.

I may go on the hunt for an uncut pedal as a replacement. Only because I do not like politics or political correctness.

6 weeks and 1900 miles into it and it's been great. I bought it new. Apart from the creak in the clutch when releasing it, it's been flawless -as I expected from my three prior Toyota trucks. My MPGs at about 85% city and at 7000 feet above sea level have averaged about 17.2.

Hly shit!......................Is that what I am doing all wrong?

 

Nothing wrong with my truck either, I only have about 5400 miles on it and had the rear springs done per the TSB but I've never had a problem or complaint.

 

I'm lovin' mine! 3 months, 5900 miles, all gravy. I use Fuelly to track my mileage too.

I've had two issues. The first is the Rear spring TSB, dealt with in a timely manner by my dealership. The second is the squeaky clutch pedal on especially hot days. Doesn't bother me much. I'm not taking it in for the pedal recall.
