TRD Big brake Kit

So I have been doing lots of reading and learned and well a little thinking . My question is they say that the TRD kit will only fit the xrunner, is that because they give you a 5 lug rotor? so could you in theory buy a 6 lug rotor and matches the lug pattern and be good to go? or are there other parts that would need to be changed or is there other incompatibilities with the double cab? Are the two truck really that different in the drivetrain?

I looked at the FJ TRD brake kit and still a little fuzzy, The FJ has factory 4 wheel discs, so what is all envolved in converting from drum to disc with this kit, is it somthing that the dealer would do? or as its not a Tacoma kit would I have to do it myself?

Anything is possible with enough time and money. To convert drums to discs is not just swapping out the braking set-up at the wheels. You'll have to swap out the hydraulics also and I have no idea what you would need if you have traction control but I imagine it would really muddy the waters.

I did some more reading this morning, and ya all the computer gizmos make life harder to work with in this case, probably endup going with better pads and ss lines, that should be more than enough.

it's been said many times before, converting rear drums to discs offers no better braking force and can cause many headaches. MJP can vouch.

the xrunner kit is front only...im saying take the front from the FJ kit and roll w/ it. brake bias is concentrated in the front anyways...

Is there much of a difference with upgrading to the FJ discs up front? I don't like the brakes that came on my truck (SR5). I think they're too soft and after reading on here, it seems people are having good luck with upgraded pads and rotors without replacing the whole assembly. I guess my question is, looking at replacing pads and rotors vs. FJ TRD brakes, is it worth the money for the little extra braking power? It's not like we're driving sports cars...
