Custom roof rack

    He's right. Can't weld the stuff... see pics above :)

    I'm not claiming they are pretty, but they're plenty strong for a roof rack. I used a Lincoln 110V MIG and had no issues. just make sure you have good ventilation, that gas gives you a help of a headache.

    As for alignment, I made the mounts attach to the truck and then just test fit the rack a few times to them trial and error style. Good luck!

    Nice rack!!! What size bolts did you use for attaching to factory mounting holes? I'm attaching yakima strips to my cab for a removable ladder rack. Can't seem to find bolt size. Thanks for the info.

    I welded emt tubing with no problems (stick and flux core mig) .Only thing is the galvanized coating . Fumes poisonous. Welded well ventilated area.
    Rack came out nice . Fitting looks great :thumbsup:

    Edit : If you grind off galvanized coating shouldn't you be able to mig ?
