Remote tailgate lock connected to aftermarket alarm?

Anyone gotten this done or worked out? Seems like the button for the trunk release on a car could be made to work with something like the Dynolock or the Pop & Lock.

Alarm in question, if it matters, is the Viper 5901.

 

My 5901 has the shock sensor set on high and it will go off if you were to open the tailgate with force. Even closing a door after the system is armed sets of my alarm, but then again so does a bunch of motorcycles riding by too. Hope this helps.

 

I would assume that hitting the tailgate button would have to disengage the shock sensor as well, just like it would in a car for opening and closing the trunk.

 

The only way for me to unlock the tailgate is the door unlock which disarms the system.

 

so you do have the alarm connected to a tailgate lock though? It just opens with the doors instead of separately?

 

The door operates the tailgate lock. Did t have to add anything to the alarm as it already could sense shock to the tailgate

 

What sequence did you install everything? Do it yourself or have it done?

I'm thinking of picking up the Dynolock and installing the hardware myself but leaving the control wire trailing, and then having the alarm installer connect the wire(s) to the alarm and hopefully be able to isolate the tailgate away from the doors as if it was a trunk.

What I'm hoping to do later is add a hard tonneau or a shell with a remote-unlock and have that tied in as well so that I can access the bed without unlocking the cab, and vice-versa.

 

You could add a door pin switch on the tailgate, bedcover, whatever, and add it to the alarm.

 

I thought of having the trunk switch open the tailgate. I'll let you know how it goes. The alarm came with the truck and I added the power lock for the tailgate

Lots of relay wiring info on this site. I'm sure it can be done, just going to take a little time puzzling it out.
