Is this anecdotal or is this a well born-out statistic?

I just put a deposit on a 2011 double cab TRD sport. Certified pre-owned, silver, 6-disc changer, manual transmission, and 13,800 miles. My cost is $26,000 plus tax, title and registration. I'm located north of Syracuse, NY.

One thing I noticed while shopping is that the prices of certified pre-owned trucks were almost always less expensive than similar trucks at non-Toyota dealerships. We bought my wife a Rav4 in May, and we noticed the same thing then.

Is it that way everywhere?

This is my very first post to this forum, want to say thanks for all the contributions and info on this site that helped me pull the trigger on my new tacoma.

2013 double cab baja edition, everything but navigation sticker was $38,600 and I paid $34,600 before taxes.

I had been shopping several times for tacos and could never get the dealers to budge much off sticker. At least not with getting down to negotiations. Thanks to this thread seeing what others have paid I walked in and told them I would give 34,600 for the truck. After they went back 4 times to the sales manager they agreed to the price. I know it's not the best price probably posted here but I felt it was a fair price.

Just picked up a 2013 DCS LB V6 with 23 miles on it for $31,200 out the door. Nautical Blue Metallic. The last brand new Taco I bought was a 1990 dark blue extended cab 4x4 with manual trans 22RE 4cyl and 11 miles on it. I had that one for 17 years and 289,000. When I bought it, it got 22mpg. When I sold it, it was still getting 22mpg. The guy I sold it to for his son wrecked it about 9 months later. I hope to get some good use out of this one as well. First couple tanks of gas I am getting 20mpg.
