2010 Tacoma regular cab, no tow package. Tow weight 3500 lbs.
I want to pull a small to medium size popup camper dry weight 2200-2700 lbs. I will have myself, girlfriend and about 300 lbs of stuff in the truck bed and camper.
OK … What do you guys think?

[1] Do I have enough truck to pull this without burning up my transmission, or engine?

[2] Do I need a class 2 hitch or can I pull it with the bumper hitch ball that I use to pul my small jon boat?
    Thanks

Probably. Why not spend the two hours and $50 and add a transmission cooler to be sure?

    I'd get a hitch.

I'd get a hitch. I'm not a fan of bumper towning anything unless it's around the block. x2 on the Tranny cooler as well. U Haul makes decent tow hitches for about $150. After market tranny coolers aren't expensive either.

I have the same truck, no problem with power for that. I have loaded it down with firewood and it moves like is not there.

    x3 Get a hitch!
