Removing or Hiding Front Bumper Scratches

This is just my luck. I got an 07 TRD Prerunner about a month ago. I came back from class to where my truck was parked on campus and noticed about 8 nice, black scratches on the lower drivers side of my front bumper. No note, nothing. I have been weighing my options:

1) Touch up paint
2) Bumper cover
3) Brush Guard (to take the eyes off the ugly scratches)
4) Paying to repaint it (estimate was roughly 500 bucks)

I am furious about my situation and it makes me even more mad because I have only had the truck for a short time.

Do I have any other options? and which is the best to make my baby look good again?

Would the spray touch up can make it look like new? I dont have any tools to sand anything, but id def prefer the cheap route.

 

Depending on how bad it is, you might be able to just buff it out. Is it all the way through the paint or just on the surface?

And Kaoskrew, If it was my old four runner then id take the risk, but since this is a truck ive had for less than a month (after someone totaled my 4runner), im trying to go to less risky route.

Some of the scratches look like scuffs, and some of the smaller ones are. But most of the dark scratches is where the paint has been scratched all the way through to the plastic black bumper.

 

Sorry to hear that. FWIW, the local Toyota dealer just paid to repaint my front bumper because they scratched it during an oil change. The shop charged them $250, so maybe check out some local shops to have the whole thing repainted. That, or touch up.

 

I would get a bottle of Meguires Cleaner Wax.Wash the bumper. Wax off any smudges, then apply the touch up paint to area where paint is missing. Then once it has dried I would wax over t/u paint. Other than that you will have to get it repainted professionally.

 

Damn. Well I found a "bumper cover" online, which looks just like a plastic piece that fits over the front bumper, but im not sure how well that would look/work.


Chilic, are you talking the brush type of touch up paint or the spray kind?

 

As bad as that looks, I'd have it repainted.

 

I wish I could find the fucker who did this and beat him to death.

Like I said, the dealer was going to charge around 500 to paint it. Would it be worth going to a smaller shop to get it done for less or fork out the money to get it done by a dealer?

I use the brush type. Never have used the spray kind. In my town I could probably find someone to paint that for no more than $200, and it look nice.It really depends how picky you are and how you want it to look. You might try the wax and T/U paint, wouldn't cost over $20. If you don't like it, get it professionaly painted.

 

Ill probably try looking around my town (pretty small, also) and see what I can find. If I cant find a lower price ill try touching it up myself. Normal people probably wouldnt even notice it but it drives me fucking insane.
