Hello everyone. I have just signed up and as you can see, this is my first post.
I have recently found myself in the market for a Tacoma. A pre-owned one (I cannot afford new). This truck will be replacing my 2009 Pontiac G8 GT Shown here:

    CleanG8001_fa8cbcbcccb6d760ecbc94802230699a47dae7fc.jpg

I am seriously considering this Truck:

    Tacoma_9aeccf7e59f3fa7a0472c38e19965e23a8544ec8.jpg

It is a 2007 TRD Off-Road with a 6-speed. only 34,000 miles.. Seems very nice and theyre only asking $22,800. This seems like a decent deal. I have not seen the truck in person yet, as it is over 3 hours away. However i am talkikng to sales reps online and over the phone. They say they "might" offer me 20,000 for my car. Does this truck seem like a good buy? Any common problems that Ill need to look for?

    Thanks guys!

I'm unaware of any problems with the 07 TRD OR. Some people are ticked with a expensive squeal from the clutch output shaft area on the standards.

    Thanks for the greetings guys.

Ive been speeking with a general manager and he sent me a couple of extra pics. This is one he sent me of the under side from behind. Things look OK to me. Anyone disagree? Tires are also very new. They arent the OEM BFGs.

    taco_c313c9b3d2f60a26b18fccd120d01cfe62ff0a65.jpg

Ill ask again if the 30K maintenance has been done. What does it really consist of? Basics right? Oil(s) changed? brakes checked. Tires rotated?

Also I have a question for you guys... I asked the sales guy but he said he didnt see it. IS there an auxilary input for an MP3 player on a 07????

Yea, do check out the throwout bearing issues... and also be aware the manual's on the taco's aren't that great to start with. It's a very disconnected feeling, and it has a rev system that keeps the rpm's up between shifts which annoys most people that know how to drive a stick. Sadly this is kind of a case of where the auto is a better setup, especially if you go off road.

    Also is that a 4x4 or 4x2? If it's a 4x4 it's a pretty good deal, if it's a 4x2 you can probably talk them down a bit more.

Also one other issue with radiant red is the color matched fenders (plastic part around the wheels) has a tendency to fade quickly if it's in the sun a lot. Otherwise it's a beautiful color.

Other than those things there really shouldn't be anything abnormal. Do read up on the TSB's like the rear add a leaf tsb, windshield noise tsb, ect and try to work it in before buying if they haven't already been done as it's within the 36k warranty only. Would be a nice little icing on the cake, but not a deal breaker imo.

Good luck in what you choose!

Edit: one other thing, please do verify it's actually a TRD Off-Road. Easiest way is to check that it has the locker. There's been a fair number of scams where people trade in and throw the TRD stickers on to try and get the TRD value... just an FYI.

303 Aero spray. Keep putting it on. Should never fade then.

Just going off what I've seen pop up a lot around here, and I know some of those people are pretty anal about wax and protectants. Fact is, red gets beat up in the AZ and Socal sun pretty much no matter how much you try. Just something to look for to see if there's any fade before signing the papers :D

    Thanks for the input guys.

I live in NJ so the sun never gets overwhelming here. I havnt noticed any of the problems you guys have mentioned. Clutch sounds and feels fine so far. It is definitely a off-road. It has the electronic locker. I drove for three hours in it on my way home from the dealer, and with the windows up and no music on, it was silent. No noises, rattles, squeaks.

I miss my G8, but this truck is awesome. :)

Welcome to the club! The G8 is one of the few Pontiacs I would of ever considered buying. My mom had a 01 Grand Am that needed a new fuel pump just after the 36k warranty ran out. Fail. If I did not love my truck as much as I do, I would be rollin in a G8 GT or GXP.
