Anyone have this grill with the indigo ink color. Not sure if I want chrome or black?

That looks good. Checked ebay,$148 for the 5 piece for the sport truck. Can't see any difference between the bolt on and the cut out. Why would anyone choose the cut-out over the bolt on version?

Whether you want the logo or not and some vehicles the factory grill is easily seen thru the billet.

As I said before, I purchased the same ones from the same people on Ebay. The grill came last night and I installed it, which was little bit tougher than I thought it would be.

I was going to post before/after and step-by-step pictures, but my camera isn't working and I wasn't going to wait to fix it before I put the grill on.

Thanks for inspiring me to buy the grill, hunter. I'm loving it!

White in, the black out lets your rims stand out alot more. Nice grill.

One question about the grill.......how secure is it if you were to take your truck thru a car wash.......would the blower make the grill vibrate and snap off in your opion?

Weiser5150:

i had a billet grille (polished aluminum) on a 2006 tundra and it was very solid (it even held up to a dove that committed suicide at 70 mph), the only draw back, and i don't know if this is the case with rachunters grille, is from 40mph nd above, i could hear a low humming noise coming from the airflow through the billets

I put mine on last night and it's pretty solid. I don't usually take the truck through a regular car wash, but I wouldn't give the grill's stability a second thought in that situation. I wouldn't go at it with a baseball bat, but it appears to be attached solidly enough that not much short of a wreck will mess it up.

(I will be checking the screws every once in a while to make sure they're still tight, but as long as they are, I think the gill will hold up fine.)

Also, I get up to about 70mph on the way to work and didn't notice any wind noise. I'll listen better on the way home, though.

_____

I only noticed when I had the stereo and AC off. Your point about the screws is a good one. I used 100% silicone on the threads of the screws after drilling the holes to lock them in (I thought thread locker would be a bit extreme, especially if I wanted to take it off again easily).

It would not vibrate or snap off. The only way to lose this grill would be for the factory grill to come off and even then this grill would still be attached to it...LOL

Hood Question

I am curious if there are any issues with opening the hood. If memory serves me correctly, you have to reach inside the grill to unlatch the hood.....perhaps I am mistaken...any issues here with that?

No issues. You can no longer reach where you once did, BUT if you slide your hand b/w the hood and the grill (rather than inside the top of the grill) there is another lever to use. Go open your hood and look at the mechanism that you use to unlatch the hood. You'll see what I mean.
