Anyone remove there second set of converters and kept the rest factory?
I was wondering if there would be any reason to do that, or just wait until I am ready to do the full system?

I don't know if Kaplan is as strict as B.R. with emissions. I think B.R. checks for your last two cats.

Nope they don't really care we are too small of a town takes 7 minutes to drive through on hwy 14. We only have 2 red lights. But hey we have what counts 8 bars and 5 gas stations. I'll look into that "Y" pipe.

i removed my 2nd set cats with the pipe bomb and sounds good. but if your completely stock as of right now, theres other mods u probably would want to consider first before getting a y-pipe

I went for the intake and MAF calibrator first. Next will be long tube headers.

I doubt you'd get a good performance bump by changing out the muffler.

maybe not too much performance but the engine will definitely breath alot better and wont sound as baffled once the y-pipe is put in

What intakes would yall recomend? Then a MAF Cal. followed by the y pipe. I was looking at the pipe Roxspin is selling. It would remove one set of cats, If I later install the DT headers they would remove the other cats. Does the O2 sim take care of this also. I do realize his is not the urd pipes but they should suit my needs I would think.

if ur gonna get the maf cal, i would do that last after all ur other planned mods, that way u only have to tune it once... if u get that first, then all ur other parts, ur gonna have to end up tuning it again.

I don't really care for the TCAI. I don't want to cut in the front of the truck. I do however see that it is superior to the others. I would more likely be interested in leaving the intake the same, yet add the headers and Y pipe.

Reusable Drop in Air Filter, ie... AFE dry flow. (Your stock box is sufficient enough getting Ambient air from the fender well) MAF Calibrator. URD basically calibrates for stock intake & or URD TCAI shipped. (So, w/your stock set up you will see improvements upon install) After you get these two, then free up your exhaust in this order. 1) High flow Muffler or (Cat-back if desire stainless steel mandrel bend piping) 2) Headers 3) Y-pipe (if so desire) I did not know you were completly stock when you PM'd me. I would increase Airflow to the engine first then free up the exhaust end. |

I am still waiting on the AFE from the Group buy. I am pretty happy with the way the trucks get their air but not so much with the way they discharge it. Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks for sharing your experiences Roxspin, Isocoee,Tacoskim.
