I have an 09 Prerunner access cab w/ the 2.7 and had a hard time at the ramp my first few tries. I now have it down pat w/ my 17' Maverick flats boat. The trick is to use your E-brake and ease it out as you give it gas and ease out the clutch at the same time. Once the clutch is holding you from rolling back just keep giving it gas as you quickly let out the clutch all the way. It will bog a little but its better than burning up the clutch.

It definitely took practice. I have several fishing buddies who think they can pull out my truck but all of them either stall out or smoke the clutch.

I still miss my 86 Silverado w/ a 350 and auto for the boat ramp.

wizo- thank you buddy. i do exactly what you do but it does bog. i don't like it when it bogs because it's just as bad to the engine as over reving. the only thing i can think of is to change out my clutch. one with a better holding power. it's a pain getting the boat out at the ramp, i guess i just need lots of practice. with my boat i have to pull it slowly out or else it will not sit properly on the trailer so i have to go slow. ease off the clutch, ease off hand break, trying not to over rev,try not to under rev. making sure boat is aligning and try not to spend the wheel. if boat isn't align i have to back up and do it all over again. would be easy with an auto.
