I was rotating my tires this week and noticed a lot of grease on the inside of the wheel and hanging from the tie-rod ends and everything else. I cleaned the wheel and called the dealer the next day to have it checked, I though a seal was bad. I got the truck(2008 reg cab 4x4) in Dec and have 9000 miles on it. I haven't taken it off road so it didn't get banged there. After the dealer looked at it they ordered a new axle and flange and replaced it today. I was told the boot was bad, when I asked if this was a common problem the service advisor said no. I searched and couldn't find anybody on the TW forum that has had this problem, so maybe it was a one time thing.
BTW I asked them to check my springs since my truck is low when I put some weight in it. They said "All normal in rear suspension, no heavier springs available". My springs are the three leaf with the same #'s that were posted on the forums as the ones in the TSB. Oh well, maybe they will extend the TSB to the 08's.
Have a happy fourth of july!!

I had my front diff replaced a few months back. Mostly due to my mistake I think. I hit some mud, and threw it in 4Hi. Back wheels may have been spinning a little, but I'm not sure. I just know the truck wasn't moving, and I didn't tap the brakes before flipping the switch to make sure the wheels were stopped. I could still use 4wd, but there was oil leaking out passed the seals. Took it to the dealer and they had the option of rebuilding or replacing. Toyota rep told them to replace the whole assembly.

I would see if the dealer does that rather than replace the seals and find out more is wrong.

Where did you buy your truck? I bought mine at Jim Hudson Toyota and I have had problems with noise from the front suspension. I had the front struts replaced but I still hear the noise. Maybe some bad reg cabs were sent to SC

I bought it at Town and Country Toyota in Charlotte. The truck was supposed to go to Alabama, but the dealer got it for me. Trying to find a reg cab with the SR5 pkg was interesting, but I wanted the bucket seats.

Yeah I didn't even know you could get bucket seats in the reg cab until I saw your truck then I wanted them. I was wondering since you have the bucket seats do that put any kind of cloth or anything over the back wall or is it just the bare metal?
