MPG Illusion! Please Read

Hi everyone! Just ran across a real Eye opener when it came to MPG and purchasing another vehcle. Read the tables at this website about real changes in gallons per 100 miles and you can see a knee jerk reaction is not good when considering what action to take concerning fuel usage. at my dealer the fed fuel usage Stickers are rated at 2.80 a gallon. Check a window sticker on a new car....

 

Neat site.... but somewhat confusing in the way they have it presented. I had to re-read it a few times.

Moral of the story - don't use an AVERAGE. You gotta look at each vehicle MPG, how much it'll get driven, what you need it for, how much insurance will cost, reliability, yadda yadda yadda....

In most cases, the lowest MPG vehicle will get the boot unless it's needed for a specific purpose. If you rely on driving the lowest mpg vehicle most of the time and you don't need the other one for any given purpose...perhaps you still get rid of it (even though you don't drive it much). Get something to share the driving and less wear/tear on the original vehicle.
