I stand with SOShelopilot, I"ve been driving Toyota trucks since Dec. 1981. They"re reliable, can take abuse, better looking and you can buy a lot of shit for em! Nuff said.:D

Not true. My family has owned 6 nissans and they all have went over 100k no problem.

I currently own a Frontier and have had zero issues. Now with that said a DC Tacoma is on my future. Need more room for the little one. My Frontier is only a king cab and I like the Tacoma better.

well, according to a mechanic that works on them (japanese cars) - far more than 6, after about 100k they don't hold up nearly as well as toyota's. and with the 3 i have experience with... that's consistent with what i've seen. my friend just dumped their xterra at 80K due to so many problems. our pathfinder started having quite a few problems at about 85K... both of our sample sizes are far too small to draw conclusions, but not my mechanic's.

I looked long and hard between the tacoma and the frontier. I even drove a frontier to a toyota dealer to park them side by side. I liked the way nissan's rear seats folded. ALOT more room. But the tacoma had more leg room for the kids in the back. The Tacoma was hands down more comfortable in the front. I love the way my TRD seats hug me tight!

I agree Nissan's customer support is the pits. If you have a 36k mile warranty and have a problem at 36,500 they will tell you too bad you should have bought the extended warranty.
But I gur=ess you have to be that way to stay profitable if you sell an inferior product.

Only major issue I know of with Frontier is the cross contamination issue and Nissan extended the warranty to 80k.

Regardless I would take the Toyota over the Nissan. Aftermarket is next to nothing for the Frontier.

A friend of mine has an 09 Titan, <not pro 4x tho> and although he can turn off the traction control, he cant turn it off fully. got him a little stuck this year b/c he could not get enough wheel spin to get him out of a tiny bit of slippery mud.

Not sure why you said Frontier is only king cab because Nissan has made the Frontier with Crew Cab for a long time

Agreed. You don't have to swear allegiance to a company that you buy a product from.

Typo. Should of been my Frontier is a king cab. Besides Nissan crew cab is fugly. The back of the cab looks like a box. Even though I own a Frontier at the moment I voted for the Tacoma. The aftermarket is much better, not to mention no worries on the cross-contamination.

TRD. Not because I own a Toyota but TRD has way cooler shit than what comes with PRO 4X Nissan's.

On a side note, I would cut off my own arm and give it to a Nissan dealership for a trade for a PRO 4X Xterra. There is a big community of them around here and those things are more than capable of a little more than your average trail. But then again, so is a Tacoma :)

I like my buddy's Pro4X, he defintely got more goodies for the money, at least options wise. Leather, sunroof, motorized seats, etc, etc. But I like my Tacoma I just bought :)

Both good vehicles I say. I went searching at the Club Frontier forum and of course they always bring up all of the awards the Fronty has received, etc. Even linked a J.D. Powers link that shows the 2010 Tacoma as being horribly rated vs the other trucks in its class.

Still, I love the look and build of my truck and would have regretted not buying it if I went the Nissan route.

UH No. Horsepower does sell cars and torque is better for hauling and towing but not racing. If that was the case Catapillar Diesels would be the number one engine swap. EVERY real race car has more horsepower than torque, even the nitrous cars. Not picking on you, I just have heard that same line of logic so many times by so many different people that it kind of irks me. Which is truly better depends on your application, but torque alone does not win races.

If you're keeping if for over 100K miles, definitely Toyota. Nissans don't seem to hold up as well after that point...
