My wife and I loaded up our '08 (4x4, v6, DC, Manual) with camping gear and headed out last Thursday. We ran 70-75 mph the entire trip and averaged 20.6 mpg. The low tank was 18 mpg (uphill) and the high was just shy of 24 mpg (downhill). I threw the 120 miles of off-roading out of the average as it doesn't really count. But for the record, running in 4wd through sand, rocks and washes in 1st and 2nd gear, and occasionally 3rd, netted 13.4 mpg.

I'm very impressed with the 4x4 capability of the Tacoma. I could go through sand that my dad in his Jeep Cherokee couldn't.

Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend. :)

    Just a note:

This was our first trip with the TRD exhaust and CAI installed. My TRD supercharger is on a brown truck somewhere in the Midwest.... :D
