step bars...

how difficult is it to make step bars for a dclb Taco? am i better off to buy premade ones?

any particular metal to look into using that would be stronger, or even more rust/weather proof than others?

 

i don't think anyone has attempted to make step bars, unless you're referring to sliders. i myself have a slider project going, and as long as you have a decent idea of how to fab stuff up it's not bad

 

"sliders" are the pipes/tubes you use to step into the truck? if so i figured they were simply called step bars, haha. can you tell i am a noob here?

they protect your truck when you come down onto boulders/cliffs/etc...i guess you could use them as steps but that's not their primary purpose

 

ahhh, i see. yea...can't see myself climbing any rocks anytime soon, so i won't be needing that set up. looks rad though.

 

Sounds like you're better off buying a set of step bars. If you have a '05 or newer Tacoma, there are pre-drilled and tapped holes in the cab to mount bars to. Very easy install and they're not terribly priced depending on what you get.

 

in that case, i haven't heard of anyone building steps bars, i don't think i'd attempt it
