    Just bought, looking for ideas...
Hey, so i've been a 06 4x4 access cab tacoma owner for about 2 months now, love the truck, only thing is i'm looking for more power. I have a 4 banger... and thought i would be able to tow my 21 foot boat with it. had to pull a auto transport with a car on it, and it did fairly well. I was thinking about going with the alpine supercharger... but then thought what about just throwing in a V6... which would be the best bang for the buck? short term and long term... and i have a loan on the truck, so i know trading it in right now, isn't an option... what would be the pluses and minus' to each?

I know you said you don't want to but with what you're looking to spend you're probably better off trading up honestly.

With the 2 options you're looking at, I'd go with the supercharger. That kit is at least made to work with your current set-up. At the end of the day though, it's still a 4 cylinder... Engine swaps are complicated and require a lot more than just swapping out the engine. You have to look at the suspension, transmission, front and rear ends, etc.

I think they're still making the kit or have a prototype; Xrunnit might be able to shine some more light on it
