New member have question!!

Hey everyone, i finally became a Tacoma owner three weeks ago!! I just got a 07 taco access cab silver, love it! SR5 model..

I just got a skid plate, and im glad i did because i had to do a little offroading to get to work. Bad snow storm! I scraped the way way back of it were it curves. Will it rust over the winters? I put touch up paint and clear coat over it, was that a good idea? you cant notice it unless you go under, thats why i touched it up. Thanks!!

Ahhh... Welcome!!

 

It will oxidize but it won't rust. Sand it and paint it with an etching primer and paint it if it bothers you. The oxidation will stop, unlike rust.

 

You are gonna scrape it up again anyway, I know because I paint mine every Sunday evening!!!

if your aluminum starts to rust theres a pretty good change it will turn to thermite and melt your truck. JK but no it wont rust
