If that's true, why haven't I seen anyone on this site talking about "tuning" their Taco to get the better output? If someone's doing this, please chime in.

It would really be frustrating to get a 2011 Taco, then in 2012/13 have Toyota introduce the dual-VVTi to the Taco! Engine swap's a little too pricey...

I think what you've just described has been done before back in '04 going into '05...it happens.

No. I'm happy with the HP, no need for me to go the blower or CAI route. I do like the gas mileage aspect of the dual-VVTi. That's certainly a selling point for the 4Runner and FJ Cruiser.

Yeah, true. I guess I was simply venting b/c I have a hard time understanding why Toyota would need 2 different versions of essentially the same engine. I'm sure the dual-VVTi would be compatible w/ the current Tacoma. I'm no businessman, but it seems Toyota could keep their production line lean by utilizing the same motors in the Tacoma, FJ, and 4Runner. I guess they'll wait to do the entire face-lift at one time and keep all the 2nd generation Tacomas consistent. Oh well.
