Well guys I'm throwing in the towel and calling it quits with my Tacoma.

Recently I have been looking at full size trucks to pull my wifes horses. In the beginning I wanted to keep the Taco, but after test driving a few trucks I have realized that I would actually rather have a full size. I've broken it down to either a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500, or a Chevy 2500 HD. I will probably go for the Chevy because Dodge can't beat the GM military discount, and I will be going with a diesel of course.

I know Dodge's suck and I'll be spending more of fuel, and the Duraduds are all hype, But I'm just not very happy with the Tacoma any longer.

I've enjoyed my time here, and thank you all for your help. I wish the best for you all.

    May the shit storm begin

I can completely understand the need for a larger tow vehicle. FWIW, Of the 3 Dodge deisel trucks we have, they have been trouble free for over 200k miles each (2001, 2005), and the 2010 seems to be doing well. You cant go wrong with the Chevy or Dodge. Pop in from time to time to say "Hi" :)

Good luck to ya! My dad has a new Chevy diesel and loves it. Bully Dog makes a chip that improves fuel economy significantly (when in economy mode). Just an FYI, my old man loves his.

Makes sense to get a full size for the towing capability. If you get the chevy I hope they have fixed the dang fresh air button on the new ones. I couldn't stand the fact that everytime I turned the ignition on or turned the air off the vents automatically switched from recycled air to fresh. That drove me crazy!!! Good luck with whichever truck you choose! (PS. My grandfather owned a Dodge Ram for his farm and never had any issues with it) :)

Good luck with your new truck, regardless of what you choose. A vehicle is a tool and you need the right tool for the job.

    New truck....so nothing yet
FWIW. My Tundra out pulls my buddies F-250 any day of the week. Would likely out perform the 2500 too. I regularly tow a 16 ft, 3 horse slant load, and have yet to have a single issue.

After my last trip to Lake Norris w/ my boat I also am thinking of getting something a little bigger for towing. I love the truck but when it comes to towing my boat it kinda falls short of what I need it to do. GL w/ your new truck.
