Dont know yet, just ordered them. Will need to fab hooks and etc to go between the knob and rail. The problem could be busting the knob off when something is strapped down. I think the best way would be to drill and tap an aluminum or stainles disc and set a stud using thread locker. Will probably make a few of those too.

I want to add to this thread. As many on here have done, adding a tonneau cover can ruin the rail system so I came up with my own cheap solution.

I picked up these Reese anchor points from Wal Mart for $2.98 each. I took the steel plate and cut it down to fit inside the rail. I didn't take time to get measurements, just cut them and fine tunned with my grinder. Cut the bolt and the rubber piece down to shorten the whole assembly and had to trim off the top plate to fit under the rail from my tonneau and done. Seems to work great so far and cheap too.

    And last.

I can still easily loosen to move these around as needed.

Bullaculla has them reasonably priced. I just ordered 10 tapped 3/8",16 and it was $45 from HI to TX. I'll get knobs/bolts as I need them.

I'm currently developing a bike carrying system that uses the side rails. Since I can't find an off-the-shelf product that will fit inside the rail exactly the way I want, I will be producing my own.

They will be 3/8" thick x 1" wide x 2" long. The outside shape, with radiused corners, will be CNC plasma cut. I will drill and tap them for 1/2"-13 thread.

I considered aluminum, but I need as much strength as I can get for my application, so they will be made from hot rolled steel.

Since I'm making them anyway, they will be available for sale.

When I bought mine then posted the Amazon link they had a lot of them in stock. Maybe a machine shop somewhere sucked them all up but I bet it was the power of TW. Should have ask them to put me on commission :)

Just a heads up on Fastenal - it took them three tries to get me the correct T-slot nuts. I've now got 7 that are the wrong thread sizes and 1 that is the wrong thread and wrong deminsions (all were in incorrectly labelled bags). Fastenal was great to deal with, even if they just kept sending me things until they got it right. Hahaha

Moral of the story, double check the things you receive from, Fastenal.

Honestly, between their shipping practices, in store help and customer service, I have little interest in doing business with them in either of the 2 stores locally. Seems to be a trend.

    and...great thread, Thanks!
