Tech question: Going from 265 to 245 tires

    My ride is a 2008 Taco TRD with P265 tires on the stock TRD rims. I have found a good buy on a set of new tires but they are off a stock SR5 and are P245. Will these fit on the stock TRD rims? I do not mind thinner tires, especially in the winter.

    aren't the trd a 17 in rim, sr5 16 rims ???


    also , save yourself the trouble and look at some
    Goodyear Duratracs.
    best all terrain tire i have ever had , and they're snow rated.

    TRD OR are 16" so I'm guessing that's what he has. 245's are rather ghey though...if you care at all about looks they will look tiny compared to your 265s.

    thats why i got rid of mine before fall.

    How do you figure? Narrow tires are much better in the snow than wide tires until you get to the point where they're wide enough to float on the snow (TRD stock size are not). Can't argue that they look tiny in the wheel wells though...

    We are talking about the stock 245 dunlaps, they are a winter failure.
    actually they are a all year round failure - haha
    never said anything about narrow vs wide tires
    I know all about winter tires, im from buffalo.

    They'll fit, but if they are the AT20s, you might want to re-think it. Popular opinion is that the AT20s suck rather loudly.....

    I got rid of mine off of my new truck as soon as I could... They rode nice on street, but sucked off road and just too small on a prerunner/4x4 truck.

    Yup have to agree that the Dunlop's are terrible. I'm in the Northeast and they are pure crap in the snow. I just got 265/75 Duratracks. Let the snow fly!!!!!!!

    Oh just got my suspension TSB done too. Love the way the truck handles now!!

    I finally just dumped my stock 245 Dunlop AT20's for new 265 BFG All Terrains, and couldn't be happier. Don't do it.
