Cup Holder removal

Anyone know how to remove the cupholder in a manual Tacoma? I want to repaint it black. The fakeass silver is coming off. I didn't want to start prying on it and breaking it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Yeah just had mine replaced at the dealer yesterday for free. Just because it came scratched on delivery. But would love to remove it and paint it Barcelona red.

 

Yep, just pull it straight up. That cup holder is the lamest thing I've ever seen. It's hard plastic and anything that doesn't fit perfectly will rattle around in there. Anything larger than an 8oz cup will generally get in the way of the shifter.

 

exactly.....rattling change is one of the worst sounds.

 

I'm debating.....thinking flat black??

 

I pulled my "silver" console out of my SR5 .... taped the shift selector off .... black ...... nicer look I feel.
