not sure why surprised the bushings lasted 50k, considering lift, that's pretty good out of them

I had to have mine all swapped out due to my lift and not being able to turn the cam adjusters for an alignment. My local Toyota told me my warranty didn't cover it as it was a "daily wear item" and they wanted $950 a side for the new control arms. I asked why they couldn't just put in new bushings/ bolts, and they said they don't do it like that?! I ended up taking it to a garage down the street and it's costing me $850 to have everything replaced, and an alignment. It's pretty shitty that something like this does South so early on these trucks, and warranty doesn't even cover it...

Tell me about it. After the cost of the lift, and all the shit afterwards this is turning into a 2" lift for almost $2000.

Guys, tell me if it's really possible to replace the bushings. If I buy the bushings, could a shop install them for me? yeah it may cost a few hundred but it sure beats getting new LCAs and spending $1000+/

Hmmmm i wonder if my 2010 taco is having this problem. It almost has 30k miles on it, but i put a 3" lift on it when it had around 5k miles on her :) (I couldnt wait :) ) Last month I noticed a metallic clicking/popping noise when i was at/almost at full lock going over a bump or driving of the slight elevation change from my driveway to dirt. It doesnt make the noise if i'm on level ground and turning, only when the suspension changes while turning.

I know this thread is old but I couldn't find a better newer one to post in. I replaced my LCA's about 8 months ago and bought them from autoanything.com for about $400 a piece I believe. I diod this to get rid of that dreaded clunk from a dead stop. well long story short.... 8 months later and the clunk is back and maybe worse than before. These parts are garabage..... I would not recommend replacing these unless your going with a legit company like TC or camburg. Really pissed off I wasted that time and money.

I replaced mine at ~120k with energy suspension bushings just because I don't like the binding design of the oem bushings. They were still in great shape after ~120k miles.

Speaker replacement sub and amp and of course window tent! Gone but not forgotten 08 Prerunner TRD Rugged Trail ICON Coil-overs/2.5 V.S. Series Remote Resi Shocks ICON Uni-Ball arms Camburg lift spindles ( Removed Swaybar) Dever 3 inch Lift Springs & Flip Kit, KMS XD Enduro 16x8 258/75 Mickey Thompson BAJA ATZ TRD Cat-Back Tint 30% side/Limo in back. The one that started it all 1999 Tacoma Preunner 6 inch Fabtech drop-bracket with custom kings all the way around AllPro 5 inch springs 35's custom paint and one bitch-en Alpine seystem for sound!!!
So this is my story on all this don't screw around with changing the bushings I did this an d 3 months and 350.00 later the clunking is back so I then started chase the sound. Thought it was the ball joints in upper arms replaced those another 300.00. Still have clucking replaced my ICON coiloveres 1200.00 thought it could be them they were on for About 50,000 miles nope still clunking! WTF is going on well I decided after all that to just replace the lower arms Toyota got me for 800.00 for the pair and no clunking so the bushings I had replaced first were screwed l did not think it would be them since it was all new so what I'm saying here is just do the lowers don't mess around! So 2000.00 in parts and about 1000.00 in labor and alignments later it is clunk free and all brand new in the front!

So what part was actually bad/worn?

I replaced mine for around $100. No clunks. If they aren't torqued properly they will clunk though.

I would rather just replace the bushings; why fork over so much money for something that isn't broken? Replacing an entire control arm just because of bad bushings? That sounds completely wasteful and a big money maker for Toyota. They replace your control arms; send the old ones back to get new bushings put in; turn around and re-sell it to someone else; big bucks lol.

Look; go buy the bushings; Moog makes them: I have used their products in the past before and worked fine; good quality.

    http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/products/toyota_tacoma_4wd_2015

Take your control arms out and you can go rent a Bushing puller/installer to remove the old bushings and install the new ones. It's really not hard; if you don't want to tackle the job yourself bring it to a good shop to press the old one out and press in the new one. Cost you probably less than 50 bucks if you take the control arms to them; maybe cost more if they have to remove the arms off your truck(Labor cost).

I replace lower control arm bushings on multiple vehicles before; its not as hard as people make it out to be, if I cant replace it myself I take it to a good shop.
