    ok so my avid light bar is being made and it will be shipped shortly, i was going to paint it with that bed liner in a can but i tested it on a piece of bare steel and that shit sucks lol.

    i dont know what would be more expensive, the powdercoat or line x
    what do you all think would hold up better, line x or powdercoat?

    oil change...
    My Nfab bar was powder coated but over 2 years or so it has began to flake off in spots and has scratches in places. you cant touch up powdercoating...so I got a scotch brite pad and roughed it up and used some rustoleum bed liner in a can....

    I vote neither since they cant be touched up.

    powdercoating is your best long term rust preventor. the big problem with powdercoating is that most items must be sandblasted before they are powdercoated for proper stick. why do you think that powdercoating is the choice for lamp posts, OEM parts (E-coating is the best but can not stand up to the sun it looks like crap fast, everything black under the hood is E-coated best rust proof.) so the bad rap that powdercoating gets is because its not properly done by some people.

    Not Voting, because it's too subjective. What's it's purpose?
    I agree with Oswego, different purposes require different finishes.
    If you Off Road, Prepare to touch it up occasionally
    I had mine powder coated by a guy who's been painting vehicles for more than 30 years
    And powder coating for more than 20 years.
    His work is nothing short of awsome, with prices to match.
    I got a primer powder coat, color powder coat, and a clear powder coat.
    The powder coating cost more than the light bar, and that included:
    Sand blasting, degreasing, and the three coats
    Each coat is a separate oven baking.
    He told me it WILL still chip.
    If You choose to powder coat, Find Someone Good, or it won't last
    I don't offroad (intentionally) and got the light bar and (Avid's) hitch step,
    to defend against the IDIOTS that curb park by Braille (and "Image" I suppose).
    I'd rather they take the hit, than the plastic bumpers.
    But my intention is no contact.
