so this past week i discovered that i had officially lost my keys to my tacoma that i had just purchased in March. with that being said it was my only set on hand. any ideas on getting a new key from toyota rather than paying a locksmith out the butt for a new set of keys?

You might have to go with Toyota because the key might have special programming. I wouldn't think a Locksmith could make vehicle keys! Going to cost $$$ either way.

Call the dealer...They will tell you what they need. Likely it'll require your VIN number and some proof of ID/ownership.
