I have a snugtop on my 2nd gen and the rubber boot wore through the paint on my cab. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how i can prevent it from happening more.

    thanks

Not sure, maybe add clear guard layer near the boot seal. If the finish is ruined you might tape off the outer area use 320 light sand, clean, and refinish spray the area.

I just ordered a snugtop for my new truck and I plan to put a clear guard the area and have the shop install the shell.

My snugtop does not contact the back of the cab. Is this boot an extra option?

The last campershell I owned with a boot rubbed through the paint. I caught it early and mostly rubbed it out, then put on one of those clear bootguards. The bootguard baked the paint underneath till it was black. I don't think there is any way to avoid paint damage with these. I have seen a couple guys have their cab rhino lined where the boot hits. You might try that. I won't own another one with a boot.

That's pretty common with boot seals since the bed can move independent of the cab.
