I was just wondering how hard it is to put a grill on. Is there any grills out there that I can just put over the existing one? I want a black mesh looking one.. Thanks!

there are quite a few different grills out there. check ebay.......they have a little of every kind of grill for the tacoma.....the kind you gotta cut on the factory one, and the bolt overs......and i have seen the black mesh ones on there as well.

sounds like a good idea.. if you got a sec, take a look at this http://grillcraft.com/media/installs/step_840_med.jpg. it shows it being placed over the original. just not sure if they still drill holes for the install.

that's the next thing i want. but here's a possibly stupid question:
with that grill, how can you get a finger in and release the latch after you pop the hood?
do you have to slide something across under the hood to get that latch, from then on?

you can pull up on the hood slightly to get your fingers just under it to pull on the latch. not too bad, but going thru the grill is definitely easier.

i worked on a tacoma sport that had a grille that said trd in the corner. it was a complete replacement not a slip on or bolt over. i asked my parts guy to look it up but it doesnt seem to be offerd any input? it was a blacl straight across design

its just bolts over the existing grille. it has several bolts that go through the grille and little hooks that hook into the back of ur grille and u just tighten them up til everything looks good. it being 3 pieces theres a little bit of time getting them all lined up but total install takes 15 mins. no drilling or anything.

yah i know the feeling. ive had mine for a lil over a year now and the only cutting drilling ive did was i trimmed the mud flaps. ive did a pretty good bit of mods so far and got out pretty lucky without drilling or cutting. the grille turns out great too. i think i paid 50 or 60 bucks for it too. and i just painted my chrome toyota emblem black a month or so ago. im not a fan of chrome. lol
