Anyone else have crappy stock radio reception? Brought my '10 acc v6 back to the dealer and they told me it was my ASL settings which i knew was totally incorrect, but couldn't exactly explain the problem i was dealing with..The radio kind of fades in and out of reception, and in other vehicles the reception is as clear as day! Could it be a faulty radio/antenna? Just curious to know if anyone else has had similar issues... And no it's not a corroded antenna base.

Somebody else had this problem here and they fixed it by tracing out the antenna wire. Apparently there is a connection near the passenger side JB that had came undone. Search for the thread. Of course I searched for the thread and can't find it because everyone uses stupid titles.

I'd trace the antenna wiring out. Start with the antenna, make sure it's clean and tight. My understanding is there is a connection between the antenna and the radio some where. You might want to try to find that.

Can't say I have ever had that problem. I even have a shorty antenna. Also I hardly listen to the radio I have sat. But the times I do I have never had a problem. I would check the wire cause If I can get pretty decent with a shorty antenna, I wouldnt think its the radio. IMO.

I had crappy reception in my stock radio and bought a booster on ebay for $20. It helped but the dealership stole it yesterday when they replaced my radio for the malfunctioning volume knob. Still pissed about it too...

If new aftermarket radios have good reception, it can't be in the wire. It's just the crap we got from the factory. Its next on my mod list.

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
I've noticed the crappy reception too. I have to turn the volume up past 30 to hear it well. My hearing isn't bad either.
I would have thought Toyota would use quality components. WTF ?
I guess I'll have to plan for an aftermarket head unit.

You should see what the stock speakers look like. If you replace just your speakers to your stock unit, you will have a much better sounding system. It wont help reception, but it will give you more power.
