My truck got clipped yesterday while parked on a small residential street. I was parked at the front of a line of cars and a water or vending truck (according to police report) my front end. Only damage was the bumper extension I think it was called was knocked off and a broken clip on the fender flare. They also hit my Avid light bar and bent it a tiny tiny bit but not even enough to worry about. Also a small nick in the sidewall of my tire that I'm not worried about either.

The owner of the house I was parked in front of called the police and an officer tracked down the truck that hit me. I'm just waiting on hearing back from him with the other drivers insurance info. Can anyone confirm what the missing piece is called so I can order a replacement and just bank any insurance money that I do get.

    That shit'll happen.

Call the dealer for it... doesn't cost any money to get the part number.
But I don't see how, it'll get past a normal deductible.

That sucks but I'm glad you have good neighbors that called cops and went to the trouble of getting involved. I'd take the money you save and buy them a six pack or two.

Shouldn't be a deductible if it was a hit and run and they caught the guy. His ins. will pay for new everything.

Sad news is, it is likely not a pre-painted part. You'll probably find a stock color (like grey) and need to have it sprayed. I am not speaking from Tacoma experience, but a similar part on my wife's Odyssey came that way. Hope the other driver has insurance, and that your own insurance company takes the time and effort to collect. Sadly here in PA insurance companies often don't even bother, why, they just jack rates anyway.

If the insurance company of the truck that hit your vehicle pays for the damage then you don't pay anything. If they are uninsured or you get hit and run and the vehicle that hit you is never found you present an uninsured motorist property damage claim to your insurance company. The deductible that you chose applies to that coverage.
