Texas fines start at $175 for the first citation and $350 for the second (that's as far as I have gotten)

A friend in Colorado got a ticket for limo tint - $230 for the first violation!!!

Haven't been to Washington yet, but I don't plan on getting a ticket when I get there (30% on Texas Registration ;) )

I was sporting 15%, but I don't think it matters - if you are illegal, the ticket is the same.

A friend of mine was ticketed not to long ago and the cop wouldn't let him leave until he scraped it off his window.

    Anyway....

Most tint only comes in standard VLT (Clear, 70%, 50%, 35%, 20%, 5%), most tint shops will only carry what's legal in there area, and alot of them will refuse to install illegal tint.

Because of the standardization it's not like you can request 5% darker to try to slide something past the cops, and the difference between each standard is obvious if you know what you're looking for so most cops will be able to nail you pretty easily.

Oh, that wasn't on my Tacoma. My Tacoma sports 30% (aka - Texas legal limit :) ).

I had that on a Subaru Outback and a Honda Accord Coupe. I am in the middle of moving right now, so I don't have any pictures handy. Sorry. :(

yea the tink looks real nice, but is it worth the ticket? In NJ tint is illegal on the front windows no matter what percentage. The cops pulled my friend over and told him to peel it off now, but it needed to be heated before it would come off, cop was pissed and gave him a nice ticket.

In that case it really isn't worth it. My tint job is legal in TX, CO, NM, WY, NV, AZ, LA, MS, FL, GA, TN, KY, NC, SC, AR, and MO...

Since those are the "only" states I really drive in, I am not too worried about my potential to get a ticket! :)

    Here's a question...

If your truck is running stock tint and you drive into a no-tint state, can they actually force you to remove it?

I think it would depend on which state the vehicle was registered in.
