Are Duratracs really worth it?

I'm about to buy a 2011 Sport and I plan on driving straight to Discount Tire from the dealership to swap out the tires. I'll be getting four 265/70-17s, but when I called to check the price it was $1024 for Duratracs and $624 for General Grabber AT2s. I love the look of the Duratracs and the reviews I've read are great, but do you guys think it's really that much better of a tire?

I know I love mine. Of course they're not mud terrains, but they're quiet on the road and are probably the best/most aggressive looking all-terrain tire that actually works...I do a lot of light trail riding and they have never disappointed me. I have the same size tire btw: 265/70/17. Had them on the stockies and now on some Helo's

 

My purpose for the truck is not for serious off roading. I'll do some light trail riding and go through some mud on occasion. It rarely snows where I am so there's no need to base the decision around that.

I mostly want to get rid of the stock tires because I hate trucks that are 4x4 and have completely street tires on them. Just looks terrible.

 

I got the same size and type on my rig and am extremely happy with them! I think you can get a better deal from 4wheelparts.com. That's where I bought mine for $184 a tire. I had em installed locally for $85.

 

discount tire will buy your tires from you too to give you an additional discount on your purchase. when i bought my bfg at's they gave me a $200 discount for my dunlop at20's with 8K miles on them.

 

I got my duratracs for about 700. Make sure you use the tread lightly rebate. and argue with them on price the guy I talked to had no problem taking about $25 off each tire. They price match also so check other web sites for deals and bring it to them. Sears had a good deal when I bought mine.

 

Do you live in Canada? Because that is way to high if you live stateside. I paid $660 for my duratracs in the same size.

Discounttiredirect.com has them for $880 no tax and free shipping. Get the tread lightly member ship for $25 and qualify for the $100 MIR for the tires. Makes it $805 + whatever mounting costs. Also if you call them and haggle you can get some more off or extreme discount on the warranty.

 

I just bought my 265/70/17 from discount tire direct on Friday for 835 down from 880 originally.

Wow, I didn't know they would do that. I have always been a fan of Discount Tire. I have the crappy 215 Dunlops on mine but only have 5,000 miles on the truck. I would really like to get these off by winter, so I will try that.

No, don't ever buy from those retards. Find the cheapest price online, then go to a local tire shop and get them to price match(or close to the same) becuase they always give the "Well you have to pay for shipping if you buy online". Buying local is always better than buying online if the prices are close.

I have the Grabber AT2 (265/75/16) on my truck and like them. I have 22K miles on mine and still have 10/32" of tread. They come with 16/32" new. So they aren't doing too bad. I don't care for Good-for-a-Years. I sell the Generals where im at in 265/70/17 for $148 ea. We have them on our Rav4 too and they will have 50K miles on them before they come off.

i have them, and love them. Aggressive look, feel and drive great. I picked up mine from Discount Tire Direct, saved a ton of money, they shipped them adn got them the next day for free, saved a lot on tax too. I think you'll like them, but shop around.
