My truck was sold to me as a "TRD Sport"

Everything seems to match this except the rear decal has been removed

It is not a TRD off-road, no locker/tow hook/towing controls etc

is there any way to tell if I have the LSD installed and this is indeed a TRD SPORT? (with everything buried in packages even one with the decal could be unknown)

I do get a little one wheel spin on occasion but haven't really hammered it either (I like my tires)

    Thanks Guys!

Next to the rear end fill plug is should say LSD Fluid Only, or LSD (can't remember exactly, but something to that effect).

I dont know if this is true for all of the 2nd Gens but on my 2010 when you turn the traction control off on the somewhere near the left of the gauge cluster is says"AUTO LSD" I think.

The sport package will also have color matched rear bumper, door handles, scooped hood, and the built in 115volt ac outlet in the bed. Most likely if you have all that you have a Sport and thus have a LSD.

Put vehicle in nuetral. Chock the front wheels. Jack the rear wheels up.

    Spin one wheel.

If the other wheel rotates in the opposite direction, no LSD.

If the other wheel rotates in the same direction, LSD

Or just change the fluid and add friction modifier. If you have LSD you'll be good, if you don't it's not like it hurts anything to have friction modifer in a non-LSD.

Yes it is, I added to put the vehicle in N.

May not help if there is an open diff, but I don't believe these Tacomas are rolling with open diffs.

Oh, I don't really care who's right or wrong, I don't have LSD and don't need to do a science project to prove it. I'm just spectating.:D

I'm just going to look for the LSD markings, my truck has everything else mentioned for it to be a TRD Sport :p

lol...look for the sticker on the rear diff when looking from the rear of the truck. should be a white sticker w/ red lettering, IIRC. should be above and left of the fill plug i think.

^^ the mechanical LSDs in these will also one tire until the clutch packs inside them grip enough to catch.

The whole 2 months that I've owned my 05 DC TRD SPORT prerunner I thought I had an open rear end. I just went out and checked after reading this post and the linked post and I actually have LSD. It has the sticker on it that says LSD Fluid Only. And to add to the above arguement, if the Toyota LSD is like any other mechanical LSD like I've had on various Mustangs, then the wheels will both turn in the same direction if you spin one of them.
