I agree 100% the 2wd looks like its directly under while 4wd is offset. Anybody have and evidence to debate that. All of the pics with 4x4 are offset and 2wd is directly under. Any objections?

    update:

I've been a little MIA here for a few days due to a truck I have in the shop that I'm 4 linking and it's lasting a few days longer than I had hoped. In the name of getting this truck out of my shop and moving onto these brackets I've been trying less computer and more actual work. My plan was to be finished by now so I can focus all my attention on these brackets for the 2nd gen. The 2 different styles made this get a little messy, but I finally located a truck locally.

gjbonner stopped by this weekend and I got the measurements needed since his cross member was the offset type. The 4 link project in my shop will be finished in a couple days and I'll report back with a nice new bracket that will fit the offset style cross member trucks. I'm sorry this has taken about 1 week longer than I had hoped, and I appreciate the patience you guys have shown. I wanted to have this finished by now.

I can post a picture if you want, but mine is directly under like the other 2wds. Pic looks the same.

Hey Beefed, so have you started taking orders for the offset bracket? (Im assuming this is a bracket design without the tower, so not as sturdy but still "beefed" up) :)

    update:

Brackets are finally starting to come out of my shop! I know there are a few of you on here that have been patiently waiting on delivery # and a bracket to show, but haven't seen it yet or even heard from me. A long overdue local project backed me waaay up.

The brackets will have a 1.5" drop and will have the top tower piece that will work with both offset and non offset cross members. Pictured below are a few of the Tundra ones I made yesterday. I'm doing 1st and 2nd gen Taco ones today and tomorrow.

If you ordered a bracket you can expect it to show within a matter of days from today. Being behind on top of having to redesign these things has been very stressful, mainly knowing people are waiting. I can't thank you guys enough for the patience you've shown, I never like people waiting longer than a couple weeks and it's been almost a month in a couple cases. Please know I'm doing my best and nobody has ever been burned by me.

I should be good now, I just haven't figured out why there are 2 different style cross member setups on the 2nd gen.

The first guy who bought one bolted his up and said it cured his vibration problem, but that the hole for the top tower didn't line up. That's when I found out about the 2nd gen's having offset and non offset cross members.

The 2nd gen brackets will be made today and people will see e-mail notifications regarding their USPS priority mail delivery # within the next few days. They're the trickiest to make. Pictured below are 2 for the 95.5-04 Tacoma and then 1 for a stock Tundra with no lift (1") and another Tundra with lift. (1.5")

I'll take an offset 2nd Gen, if it comes with a shudder free guarantee.;)

Not to rain on the parade, but I think 1.5" might be excessive.

Just put a 3" lift on Oct 30th, had some takeoff shudder from 5 to 10mph, suspected the carrier bearing. Went to Lowe's today and got 1/4" worth of grade 8 washers for each side and shim it down a quarter inch. Takeoff shudder GONE. Truck drives smoother now than it did after the leaf spring TSB. It's back to feeling like it did off the lot.

1" to 1.5" seems to be too far in the other direction...maybe why they help some folks, don't help others...

Any reason we can't get a bracket with a custom drop length?

what was the price on these?

I am looking at a new DS, but if this will fix it, I may go with this.

    6" lift here

Just slapped my Beefedtaco CB drop on this mornin'. I have an '11 DC/LB 4X4, and it has the centered mounting holes on the crossmember, not offset.

Not a problem Brian, thanks for your email replies, they helped out immensely. So far so good after the install. It got rid of the off the line shudder, no other driveline vibes at all. Now I just have to fix my differential bearing vibe (that should be a good dealer visit). Thanks again Brian.

Hey Ben, what's the deal with the diff bearing? And have you made it to the dealer?

btw people...I have the cross member issue resolved so I don't need any pics unless someone just wanted to post up. I wouldn't mind seeing pics of some of the brackets in use. Thanks again everyone.

There's a known issue with the needle bearing on the front differential that becomes apparent after lifting the front. It doesn't seem to affect all tacos, but it seems to happen to the majority of 4wd tacos that get lifted. It causes a droning vibration from the front when in 2wd (mine between 35-45mph) and immediately disappears as soon as you engage 4wd. It hasn't affected performance or anything, it's just annoying. I haven't gone to the dealer yet, mainly b/c I don't want to argue with them, and have them tell me the warranty is void since I put new coils and struts on it. Oh well, I guess I'll cross that bridge sooner or later.
