Any non-oiled filter replacements for the 2010+ CAI?

I was wondering if there was a dry filter available for the 2010 new cold air intake sort of like the pro dry s??

Why all the hate for oiled filters?

I get that they're a little more maintenance, but oiled filters will absolutely trap more particulates than non-oiled.

 

But they're waay more restricting!! Putting the pro dry s filter on my stock setup made a noticeable difference!!

 

I have the pro dry on my 1st gen TRD CAI. It's a big filter and barely fits. Not sure if they have one for the 2nd gen TRD. I would ask Gadget over on URD.

 

No. Actually, the big benefit of oil bathed filters is that they can filter a buttload of dust WITHOUT flow restriction, unlike dry filters. They also tend to trap the smaller particulates much better. In modern engines, with tighter tolerances, I'd be more worried about tiny particulates than ever before.

The extra yell you hear when using a dry filter is mainly due to the fact that they don't filter terribly well on high-flow applications.

In short, there's a REASON TRD picked an oiled element for the CAI instead of shipping it with a dry one.

 

Not true, a clean oiled gauze (K&N) filter filters worse than a dry flow (AFE ProDry) or a stock paper filter. Some research on oil analysis results using all of these types of filters shows that. A dirty oiled gauze on the other hand will filter better, but then will not flow as well.

Every air filter type is a trade-off between flow and filtering ability. You don't get better flow and better filtering in the same package.
