So I drop my truck off this morning for oil change and for other minor problems. Service advisor said there is a recall for gas pedal, floor mat, and flash. But I kindly said no. No papers to sign. Then I ask for the steering and leaf spring tsp be done and he said they have to find out if there is a problem first. Then I ask how is he going to find a problem with steering rattle if it only happen on fire roads? He said if they don't find a problem then they won't fix it. He did not even look at my tsb papers. So what should I do? Take this up to service manager?

If you're having a problem with the steering column rattling they should fix it under warranty, regardless of any TSBs. Is this something you experienced or something you read about? Same with the leaf springs. If you don't have an issue with the truck, they're not going to do anything about it. It costs them money to perform the work so they're not going to do it unless it's needed. If your truck is bottoming out with a load it in, then you've got a case and you'll need to either take it to the service manager or call Customer Service.

It is all that I am experiencing. I never knew there was a fix for it prior to the problem. Until I started digging around to see if that is normal.

I told the service guy that you can see where the bump stops hit and he said that is what it is for and I ask, so hitting the bump stop all the time is normal? He said yup. I started to scratch my head on how dumbo this guy is.

I'd go back to deal with the service manager and, if that doesn't work, customer service. Sometimes it takes some coaxing... I've heard stories of people taking the service manager for a ride along in order to convince him the TSB needed to be performed. Hopefully they have a decent service manager and can get it done for you without too much of a headache.

Yeah, what he said... time to get a little meaner if the dealership is really that ignorant. You can try the service manager but when that doesn't work, follow what Oswego said.

So I just picked up my truck and talked to the service manager and he said the obvious. Can't duplicate so we can't fix it. Time to call Toyota.

I just had my first oil change at the dealer and was asked to do the pedal recall and computer flash. I declined because I didn't think it right to cut the pedal when it should be replaced. My Tacoma is a late 2010. I decided to call Toyota and ask for a new pedal instead of the "cut job". I was informed that my truck was not part of the recall!!!!!!! So make sure your truck is included in the recall before having this done. Do Not Rely on the Dealer
