..i like the colorado but its just cheaply made i think so is the silverado. been looking at a ram or dakota and osmeone said check out a tacoma so i did

i havent driven one yet but they look really good and have a mean look to them and they have good after market support it looks like..

im looking in the 15k range and the TRD Off Road package short bed crewcab 6 speed..might have to go 2007 or 2008? is that possible?

something important to me. can i get a 7in touch screen nav unit in the dash? the dash curves so i dont know how it would look.i did a google search and found 1 picture and it didnt look that good

how is the truck up to and past 150k miles?i tend to put alot of miles on cars

when i was at the dealership checking them out i noticed doors and stuff in the bed.. what is that all about..

what issues should i be aware of..rust..motor...

they last pretty well, there was one here over 350k last week. But for 15k your not going to get what you are looking for I think.

Yea 15k could get u an earlier model unless it has high mileage then you will be good but usually those trucks run around 20k I think

You would maybe be able to get an 07 with a good bit of miles on it for $15,000. My friend got an 07 with over 80,000 miles on it for $17,000. But 06 or 05 would be easier.

I'm pretty sure you can, I've seen it done I'm almost positive.

Tacomas last forever... I know people with well over 150,000 miles on their taco.

Heres a picture of my 7" double din head unit. It's a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD. I think they look really good in our trucks, and I literally get hundreds of comments about how great it looks.

i got my tacoma 6 months ago, for 16,000 with tax n liscence and it had 61,000 miles on it. its an 08 offroad access cab auto tranny

i had a 99 and a 05 silverado before my tacoma, loved the v8 but thats it, this tacoma drives way better than those did, built way better. and the 4.0l v6 is pretty damn close to as fast as my silverado was if not faster
itll beat my friends extended cab silverado with a 4.8l v8

I used to be a Ram guy before my 06 double cab. i test drove a couple tacomas including an 02 with close to 200,000 miles on it, had no intention of buying it just wanted to see what they are like with high miles. the steering and suspension with 200,000 was tighter and more responsive than my dodge. even though i didnt buy that one that is the truck that sold me on a Tacoma. i do some minor hauling and pull a boat regularly and the only time i notice its a smaller truck is when it comes to stopping with the boat it takes a little more.

Great truck glad i bought it.

I'd drive a Silverado, didn't need a fullsize though. I agree the Colorado's are total garbage though. That I5 motor is gutless and with the 5.3L V8 theyre still slow and no more capable than the Taco. The Taco has some quirks here and there but overall it's a great truck. And like people said you can run them a long time the 4.0L is a good motor.

The doors in the bed are just covers for the small storage compartments.

As far as issues, some 2005 Tacos have problems with weak motor mounts but Toyota apparently fixed that issue with the 2006 model year. As far as rust, Tacomas come from the factory with a really wimpy coat of paint to protect the undercarriage. So yes, there are issues with rust, especially if you live in a state where they put salt on the roads. If you take care of the undercarriage and keep it clean it shouldn't be too much of a problem though.
