I have a 97 Ext. and deciding to have truck evaluated for frame rust. Some rust through nearing leaf springs frame area. Its been a great reliable truck w/190,000 miles. A deciding factor would be to keep truck cap to put on a 2011 LB. I have researched and read that it will probably not to definitely will not fit. This particular aluminum cap was fabricated on site to fit my truck. I need to know if anyone has actually attempted to fit a 1st to 2nd. There may be some play in the bottom cap lips to make this work. From research, 2011 bed length 73.5 inches, 1997 ext bed length 74.5 inches and 2011 bed width 56.7 inches, 1997 ext bed width 57.90 inches. Based on dimensions, there is an inch or so in differences.

That inch difference will be very obvious once mounted, not to mention you may not be able to clamp it down properly with the J-bolts since it is not aligned correctly. Also keep in mind of the possible cab height difference.
